Global climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing biodiversity throughout the world. Through increasing average temperatures, changing rainfall patterns, and intensifying extreme weather events, these impacts have a direct impact on existing ecosystems and species. Higher temperatures encourage the movement of species to the northern hemisphere or to higher altitudes. For example, many plant and animal species attempt to move to cooler environments. Climate change is also accelerating the spread of invasive species. In disturbed environments, invasive species can thrive better than native species, resulting in unhealthy competition and reduced biodiversity. Genetic diversity within species is also threatened, reducing their ability to adapt to environmental changes. Human actions, such as deforestation and urbanization, exacerbate the effects of climate change. Loss of natural habitat makes species more vulnerable to change. The sustainability of the ecosystem is disrupted, and this impact can spread to economic sectors, including agriculture and fisheries which depend on natural resources. Rich biodiversity is key to ecosystem health. With the disappearance of species, complex interactions between species are disrupted, affecting important ecological processes such as pollination, nutrient distribution, and natural pest control. Therefore, maintaining biodiversity is crucial in dealing with the effects of climate change. Conservation and environmental protection efforts are very important in mitigating these impacts. Building conservation areas, implementing sustainable agricultural practices, and promoting environmentally friendly use of resources can help maintain biodiversity. Apart from that, public awareness and education regarding the importance of conservation is an effective first step in overcoming this threat. Biodiversity is not only an ecological asset, but also a cultural and economic one for humans. Therefore, the effects of climate change must be taken seriously, and concrete action is needed to protect threatened ecosystems and species. An integrated approach to environmental policy is essential to create a positive impact in the future for the sustainability of the planet and life.
