But even in a world of increasing economic pressures, people buy tickets with the hope that they\u2019ll win. Many of them know the odds are long and that they\u2019re not really investing their life savings, but they believe the lottery gives them a chance to have a little fantasy. It\u2019s that sliver of hope that\u2019s at the heart of what makes lottery so alluring.
